PATRIZIA MONACO’
“Backdrops soul”
2023, acrylic on cardboard, 42×29,7cm

Patrizia Monacò painter and poet, born in Cosenza in 1964, lives and works in Potenza. At just eight years old, she won the prize Microfono d’argento offered by Rai, with a theme entitled “A mio padre”. At fifteen she became a pupil of the maestro Donato Pace of Avigliano (PZ) and she attended his studio for a few years. From 1982 to the present day you began a climb of exhibitions and awards, which denotes a truly great talent. How difficult it is to range from poetry to painting, which, as Lessing said, are such heterogeneous forms of art. Patrizia is a complete artist, because art, in its most hidden sense, is poetry, and poetry, is – from poiesis – creation. In art we get closer and closer to creation, to that creative spirit that the Creator himself has placed within us since birth. This is why the ancients said “nascitur poet”. The artist often ranges, in her heterogeneous artistic life, from literature to colour, from sign to verse, with an adequate aesthetic ease, with which the painter manifests an eclecticism of proposal, which over time has ranged from poetry visual to Dadaist painting, from action painting to the so-called poor art. The development and distribution of the signs are at the same time endogenous and exogenous: that is, directed equally towards the inside and the outside with a balance of traits and a balance of lines, which nevertheless translate into a strong creative expressiveness.
